They are training 450 Dallas Running Club members who are enrolled in the DRC Fall 2008 Half and Full Marathon Training Program, and now they will pace you too!    14 coaches from the training program will be serving as the official Pace Team of the DRC Half Marathon.

How It Works:
Each Pace Leader will run even splits (every mile will be run in the same amount of time) throughout the half marathon, and by following your Pace Team leader, you'll cross the line within a couple minutes of your goal finishing time. During the race, your Pace Team leader will also remind you to drink and eat, as well as offer words of encouragement.  Keep in mind, you don’t have to stick with your Pace Team leader the whole race - we want you to run your own race according to how you feel. The pace leaders are merely there as a guide. If the pace feels too slow in the beginning of the race, that's normal. Remember, it's a long race and what feels slow at the start will help ensure you have energy to get through the full 13.1 miles! If the pace is too fast, slow down. If you feel like you can go faster, speed up. It's your race, and we're here to help you enjoy it so that you will want to come back year after year.

We'll have Pace Teams for the following finish times: 1:50, 2:00, 2:10, 2:20, 2:30.  With 14 Pace Team leaders, this means multiple pacers for each finish time goal. This means more ability to hear suggestions from the pacers, hear their encouraging words, and ask questions and advice as needed.

Meet Your Pacer:
You can meet your Pace Team leader at Dallas Running Club social runs Wednesday nights.  The social runs are open to DRC members but non-members are always welcome to come to one run to try it out.  The run is at 7 pm Wednesday night at the DRC Clubhouse at 1152 N. Buckner Blvd, Ste 121, in Dallas.  .Feel free to ask them about their running background, how they fuel themselves during the race, and any other helpful tips you'd like to know from coaches who train new and veteran runners throughout the year.

Race Day:
At the start line, you'll see us lined up according to pace and holding signs up with the finish times. Just fall in with your group. That's all. No check in, no sign in, just meet us, and follow your Pace Leader to your best half marathon ever!

Greg Hall

As a native of Dallas and a veteran of the U.S. Navy, Greg uses his knowledge of the city and military discipline to create a regimen that is built upon structure, challenge, motivation and fun to help runners achieve their running or fitness goals.  His philosophical approach, running experience, and genuine care for his fellow runners create a positive environment that is conducive to all things that are good about running.  Greg has completed eleven Marathons and numerous Half Marathons.  He was a Pace Leader for the inaugural DRC Half Marathon Training Program in 2007 and Half/Full Marathon Training Program in spring of 2008. "With the success of these training programs, we have fulfilled Libby’s vision to provide Dallas area runners the means to complete their running goals within the embodiment of what is truly the heartbeat of the Dallas Running Club."

Chris Stratton

Chris has been running off and on for 15 years.  In that time he's learned not only how to be a better runner, but to understand why he runs and how to adopt an attitude and training regimen to run for life.  Although he still loves racing, his biggest inspiration is working with newer runners and helping them to learn how to train better, accomplish their racing goals and encourage them to make running a passion for life.

Lucy Silvas

Lucy joined the DRC in January 2008 after a friend suggested to join with her - of course the friend never signed up, and Lucy got stuck with the program! After a few runs with the group she found out that finally there was a sport where she could be good at. Her long time favorite was basketball, but of course that was out of the question. She completed the Big D Half Marathon and several small races. She loves all the different people you get to meet who eventually turn into great friends. Running has become a big part of her life. She is excited to help the new group achieve their goals while having fun!

Scott Bertrand

While participating in competetive sports all my life, Scott started running relatively recently in July 2007 to get fit and lose weight. Scott joined the Fall 2007 DRC half marathon training program and ran four halves through the Winter (DRC, White Rock, Bermuda, Cow Town). He then joined the Spring 2008 DRC full marathon training program and ran the Oklahoma City Memorial marathon. "What I lack in experience I hope to make up for in enthusiasm, and willingness to do whatever is necessary to get answers to trainees questions."

Paige Brauer

Thru the encouragement of a friend, Paige joined the DRC in January 2008 in order to attain one of her fitness goals of completing a half marathon. Though she’s been running since high school, she had never run farther than 7 miles before joining the DRC. Due to the training program of the DRC, she successfully completed the Big D half-marathon In April 2008. Paige is looking forward to giving back to DRC in helping other runners achieve their goals

Christine Williamson

Christine fell in love with running 2 years ago, and since has completed 3 half marathons and many shorter distance races. She enjoys the friendships she has made with her DRC family and is excited to take part in her third DRC training program. As a first year pace leader she is most looking forward to seeing the group grow as runners to meet their goals.

She is a 5th grade reading and social studies teacher by day and loves to run and hike every chance she gets.

Molly ran her first 5K in the summer of 2005, and she ran her first half-marathon with the Dallas Running Club in November that year. Her first marathon was in her hometown of Austin in February 2007. She helped as a pace leader for the DRC last fall and this past spring. Molly has completed 8 half marathons.

Vicki Connerly

Vicki ran in her first 10K back in 1985 and has been running off and on since then. In the Summer of 2007, her sister convinced her to join the Training Program for the DRC Half Marathon. Vicki met so many great people during the Training Program and discovered that running with buddies is much better than runing solo! She loved it so much, she volunteered to be a Pace Leader for the DRC Half Marathon Spring 2008 Training Program. Since joining the DRC, she has completed 3 Half Marathons, numerous 5Ks and 10Ks and was brave enough to complete the Oklahoma City Marathon in April 2008.

Nikki Davis

Nikki started running in 2003, did her first 5k within 30 days and was hooked from that race on. She is working on her fourth training series with Dallas Running Club. She has done countless 5k’s, 12 Half Marathons, 3 30K races, and 3 Full Marathons.  Her favorite distance – “Half Marathon” and her second favorite distance “my house to Starbucks”.  Training new runners is her passion. "There is a lot of joy in being a Coach, you get to watch runners do something they thought they could never do. Getting active can change your whole outlook on life and being there to watch that happen is awesome!"

Tara started running four years ago and it was an instant addiction. Since that time, she's completed too many 5Ks to count and several 10Ks and a few half marathons. This year she is looking to add a full marathon to her running achievements. She loves running with groups of people and all of the camraderie that comes along with that. Helping new runners and learning from others has always been a big part of the fun for her. She's been a DRC member for 3 years, but this is her first time running with the training group.

JJ, a Kansas native, joined the DRC in January 2008 to train for the OKC Half Marathon. Before joining the club, JJ was terrified of running.
