The Metroplex Half Marathon Challenge is a contest of endurance encouraging runners and walkers to attempt to complete two major half marathons this fall. Participants need to enter both the Dallas Running Club Half Marathon on November 4 and Wellstone’s Dallas White Rock Half Marathon on December 9. Runners with the lowest combined half marathon times will win awards for the top five overall fastest males and females.
When people register for the Metroplex Half Marathon Challenge, they save $5 on each race. All challenge participants will receive a finisher’s certificate, with their individual race and combined times. Awards to the overall winners will be announced December 14, the Friday after Wellstone’s Dallas White Rock Half Marathon. Awards will be presented at the Dallas Running Club’s January 5, 2008 race.

The Dallas Running Club Half Marathon, held on November 4, 2007, is a well-positioned race that fills in a gap in the Dallas-area events calendars for those training for the Dallas White Rock Marathon. As the sole running event the first weekend in November in an otherwise busy fall schedule, runners target this race for its additional challenge or as a training run for marathons, particularly in training for Wellstone’s Dallas White Rock Marathon in December. The beneficiaries of this non-profit event are the Dallas Running Club and the Tal Morrison Scholarship Fund.
Wellstone’s Dallas White Rock Half Marathon is held on December 9, 2007 in conjunction with Wellstone’s Dallas White Rock Marathon. This is the only Texas marathon located in a big city with easy access, transportation and plenty of hotel rooms that also offers the beauty of a 10-mile loop around scenic White Rock Lake. All race-day events begin and end in Victory Park at the American Airlines Center near downtown Dallas. The primary beneficiary of the event is Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children. |
